La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District continues to advance the Measure R school facilities bond program with thoughtful planning, community engagement, and fiscal stewardship. During December, the district took important steps to transition from early planning into project prioritization and initial design work, and set the stage for meaningful facility improvements in 2026.
Program Planning, Prioritization, and Community Engagement
Building on the foundation of its existing Facilities Master Plan and recent site assessments, LHPUSD is moving ahead with a data-driven approach to implementing Measure R:
Launched a formal Measure R project prioritization process, designed to balance urgent facility needs, district goals, and available funding.
Developed a quantitative prioritization framework, incorporating factors such as student safety (“Warm, Safe, and Dry”), modern learning environments, state mandates, campus equity, and opportunities for leveraging additional funding.
Established a phased implementation strategy that includes realistic timelines, accountability check-ins with the Board, and intentional bundling of projects to maximize resources.
Initiated a comprehensive staff and community engagement process, ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and meaningful input as priorities are refined.
Outlined a proposed school configuration engagement process, including listening sessions, surveys, and a working committee, to guide a community-informed, data-driven decision regarding Pescadero Elementary School. The first meeting will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Middle/High School Multi-Purpose Room and Courtyard Project
The Middle/High School MPR and Courtyard project, previously approved by the Board, continues to move forward as a cornerstone early Measure R project:
Pre-design and technical analysis are underway, including geotechnical review, topographic and land surveys, and hazardous materials assessments to support future demolition and site work.
The design team has begun schematic site and building design, establishing the foundation for programming and community review.
A Lease-Leaseback delivery model has been identified as the recommended construction delivery strategy.
A structured engagement plan has been launched, including:
Staff and community workshops in December
Surveys for staff, families, students, and community members
Additional workshops and Board updates through Spring 2026
Final design input prior to submission to the Division of the State Architect
Looking Ahead
The District’s Measure R program will continue to gain momentum in early 2026:
