Michelle Ross, Superintendent
In November 2022, the La Honda-Pescadero community made a powerful commitment to education. With 63% voter approval, Measure R passed, providing $15 million to improve and modernize our schools. This investment helps ensure our campuses remain safe, welcoming, and equipped to serve students today and for generations to come.
These projects represent more than bricks and mortar. They reflect the trust our community has placed in our schools, staff, and students. We are deeply grateful for your support, and we are committed to putting every Measure R dollar to work responsibly and transparently.
Progress to Date
Since Measure R passed and with new district leadership, we have laid the foundation for a strong, accountable program:
Hired a bond program manager and formed a Bond Team that meets regularly
Conducted campus walks and reviewed facility needs
Secured specialized legal counsel and pre-construction services
Initiated planning and pre-design for the High School Multipurpose Room
Engaged geotechnical and topographic survey work to support design
Establishing a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (if you are interested in serving, please reach out to the District)
Approving the first bond sale (Series A) to fund initial projects
What’s Next
The coming year will focus on moving from planning into action. Upcoming milestones include:
Submitting the High School MPR plans to the Division of the State Architect
Holding community and staff engagement sessions on design and scope
Approving a districtwide project prioritization schedule
Launching construction of the High School MPR by Summer/Fall 2026
Expanding planning and development for additional Phase One projects
Communications and Transparency
We are committed to keeping our community informed every step of the way. The district’s Measure R communications plan includes:
Regular updates from the Superintendent and Board of Trustees
Two Bond Dollars at Work newsletters annually (Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer)
Project fact sheets and presentations that break down timelines, budgets, and scope (as projects come on line)
Updates housed on the district website as the central hub for all information
By driving all communication efforts back to the website, families and community members will have one consistent, accessible place to stay informed about progress.
Our Commitment to the Community
Community support for Measure R is about more than facilities. It’s about equity, opportunity, and pride in our schools and neighborhoods. Strong schools benefit everyone from enhancing property values to strengthening community identity.
We’re proud of the progress made so far, and even more excited for what’s ahead. With your continued partnership, the promise of Measure R is already becoming a reality.
