LHPUSD recognizes Labor Day as a holiday. Schools will be closed on Monday, September 3rd. The idea of Labor Day first became public in 1882 when the unions of New York City held a parade to celebrate union workers and their contributions to the wealth and prosperity of the country. In 1894, Labor Day became an official federal holiday.
