The 2018-2019 school year welcomes another year of excitement and change. The construction on our school and two new upper buildings are almost complete and our teachers have relocated into their new classrooms. Enthusiasm has been felt amongst our families, students, staff and the greater La Honda community.
We continue to offer a well-rounded academic educational program, with embedded enrichment, to all our students. The Balanced Literacy Model for English Language Arts and Math Workshop are anchored in the Common Core State Standards and offer differentiated instruction and targeted support for our students. We have launched into our new math curriculum, Bridges in Mathematics, this year. Our weekly enrichment opportunities include: Garden, Music, PE, Science, and Technology.
Our Academic Center is underway, which offers academic support after school for our students. In addition to the Academic Center, we will be offering a 4th/5th Academy that offers an extended learning day for our 4th and 5th graders to further extend the work they are doing in class. This wonderful opportunity was made possible by a grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
Additional after-school enrichment opportunities are also offered to our students. We promote and encourage students in exploring their interests. Food Lab, yoga, running club, and art are just a few examples of opportunities we offer to our students.
We continue to be anchored in the richness and kindness of our close-knit school community and are looking forward to the school year ahead.
